The official website of the Mayfield HS Alumni Association, Mayfield, Ohio

Spring/Summer 2015

The spring and summer at Mayfield were filled with the kind of energy that reminds us why our alma mater still feels like home. Students shined in every corner of campus life—from the talent show, where “it was thrilling to see all the amazing talent that Mayfield students have to offer” , to a glamorous prom night planned by the junior class. On the fields and tracks, our Wildcats made us proud, with Andy Isabella capturing the Division I State Championship in the 100‑meter dash and Gianna DiPippo and Marissa Handel competing fiercely at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Graduation brought 329 seniors across the Palace Theatre stage, celebrated by heartfelt speeches from student leaders and the valedictorian. Meanwhile, the Alumni Association unveiled a new website—an organized, lovingly crafted hub built by Walt Podgurski ’65 to bring our community even closer.

Beyond the school walls, the newsletter celebrates the generosity and accomplishments of the Mayfield family. Twenty‑seven seniors received $22,500 in scholarships, each story reflecting dedication in academics, athletics, arts, and service. Retired faculty shared updates from lives filled with travel, volunteering, and family, while reunion plans—from the Class of ’55 to the Class of ’95—promised renewed connections. Alumni achievements stretched from published thrillers to athletic honors, and the community mourned the loss of beloved classmates and staff. All of this unfolded as the long‑awaited Alumni Pavilion neared its grand opening, a new gathering place built through years of effort and the unwavering support of Mayfield families—another reminder that the Wildcat spirit continues to grow, decade after decade.
