Spring/Summer 2007

The Spring/Summer 2007 issue of The Alumni Voice celebrates another vibrant year at Mayfield, where students filled the halls with achievement, spirit, and tradition. From championship seasons in football, hockey, swimming, and wrestling to a standout production of Beauty and the Beast, the school’s energy was unmistakable. Clubs thrived—Cat’s Cabinet marked its 50th Winter Formal, PRIDE hosted cultural dinners, and Key Club honored longtime advisor Ron Werman as “Most Outstanding Key Club Faculty Advisor in Ohio.” Seniors closed their year with a dazzling Prom, After Prom, and a heartfelt Commencement honoring Valedictorian Josh Grossman and Salutatorian Rachael Rho. As one student-writer put it, “No senior will forget their time at Mayfield High School, especially me.”

The newsletter also highlights the Alumni Association’s deep commitment to supporting students and preserving Mayfield’s history. A record‑matching $13,500 in scholarships was awarded to 17 deserving seniors, each recognized for academic excellence, leadership, service, athletics, or the arts. Reunion plans for classes spanning 1942 to 1997 fill the calendar, while the Staff Hall of Fame prepares to induct four beloved educators. Heartwarming alumni stories—like the return of a long‑lost class ring and the remarkable journey of Bob Habenstein, Class of ’32/’33—remind readers of the lifelong bonds formed at Mayfield. As the newsletter notes, the Association continues to grow, honor its past, and “maintain our rich history and document so many wonderful events and activities.”
