The close of the 2009–2010 school year at Mayfield was marked by the kind of energy and accomplishment that reminds us why our alma mater remains such a source of pride. Students excelled across academics, athletics, and the arts, with seventy‑five seniors honored for GPAs of 3.75 or higher and standout achievements like Jeffrey Yu earning a National Merit Scholarship and Mark Suslik becoming the first student to take all four foreign languages at once. Prom lit up La Malfa, the After‑Prom Committee transformed the night into a nostalgic “Game On” celebration, and our Wildcats delivered unforgettable seasons—from the hockey team’s first Baron Cup win to undefeated swimmers and state‑bound athletes. As the newsletter puts it, “the end of the 2009–2010 school year was without a doubt one to remember,” a sentiment woven through every highlight.
Beyond the school halls, the Alumni Association continued its tradition of generosity and community spirit. Twenty‑seven seniors received a combined $22,000 in scholarships, each story reflecting dedication, leadership, and service—from future engineers and nurses to athletes, artists, and volunteers. Reunion stories brought decades of graduates back together, including the Class of ’49, who wrote that as they gathered, “the intervening years evaporated. It was like old times, again.” The Association also celebrated the success of its Nautica Charity Poker Festival volunteers, honored alumni accomplishments, and highlighted the strength of its membership and leadership. Through every page, the newsletter reinforces what binds Mayfield graduates together: pride in our school, gratitude for those who serve it, and a shared commitment to keeping the Wildcat spirit alive.
